What We Know About the Area 51?

Area 51 is the only military facility that has given birth to a lot of conspiracy theories than any other military facility in the world. It is a highly classified facility of the United States Air Force (USAF). It is located within the Training Range and Nevada Test. Area 51 is a remote detachment that is administrated by Edwards Air Force Base. The official name of Area 51 is Homey Airport (KXTA) or Groom Late.

The details of the facility are not made public. It is said by USAF that it is an open training range. It is a common thought among people that it is a facility of development and testing of weapons and experimental aircraft.

What We Know About the Area 51?

Area 51 is a location on the map near Groom Lake, a dry lake bed in the Nevada Desert. It is 85 miles from the north of Las Vegas. Area 51 is the popular name of United States Air Force Base. The intense secrecy by authorities has given rise to a different subject of conspiracy theories. It has become a central component of an unidentified flying object (UFO)

The base has never been declared a secret base but the occurrences and research in Area 51 are Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). The warning signs, armed guards, and electronic surveillance keep the public away from the base. If you are trying to make footage using a drone, then it is illegal to fly or use a drone over Area 51.

The base is having a runway up to 12,000ft long that makes 2.3 miles. The entire range covers around 2.9 million acres of land

Why Area 51 Was Built?

During the Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union, Area 51 was created for testing and development for the aircraft facility which included U-2 and SR-71 Blackbird Reconnaissance planes. It was built in 1955, but the CIA got to know about it in 2013. Four months after the CIA’s disclosure, President Obama was elected as U.S. president. He was the first president to publicly mention Area 51.

What Goes on In Area 51?

It is believed according to a conspiracy theory that the U.S. military continues to develop cutting-edge aircraft in Area 51. It is believed that around 1,500 people work there. They usually commute on charter flights from Las Vegas.

Are There Aliens and Flying Saucers at Area 51?

The secrecy around Area 51 has given birth to many conspiracy theories. The most famous conspiracy theory about Area 51 is that the site hosts an alien spacecraft and the bodies of the pilots. It is said that the flying saucer crashed at Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. The U.S. government says that it was not a crash landing of a flying saucer. Although it was a weather balloon.

Others claim it to be a UFO near the site. While some people say that they have been abducted by aliens and the facility experimented on them. In 1989, a man named Robert Lazar claimed that he worked on the artificial intelligence technology of an alien inside Area 51. He claimed that he has seen some medical photographs of an alien. According to Lazar, the facility is used to examine UFOs.

Intelligence agencies have been distracted because of the conspiracy theories related to aliens and UFOs. In the 1950s, the CIA developed a UFO office to research the sightings of unidentified flying objects over Nevada. The first sighting of the U-2 spy plane was unknown to the people.

What Happens If People Storm the Area 51?

Matty Roberts created a Facebook event proposing that let’s see them, aliens because we can run faster than their bullets. About 2 million people marked that even as going. The linked festival was moved because of a possible humanitarian disaster.

The warning signs make it very clear for the public any trespasser will not be tolerated around Area 51. USAF said that it is an open training range for the US Air Force and no person is allowed to come inside the premises where they train American Armed Forces.

Security Around Area 51

The base is marked out by orange posts and armed guards in white pickup and trucks. They are in camouflage fatigues. The enthusiasts refer to those guards as camo dudes. The guards are not authorized to give answers related to their employers. However, there are some indications that these guards are employed through a contract known as AECOM.

To maintain the border of the base, they have used advanced technology. There are motion detectors and surveillance cameras around the base to keep it protected. Some of the motion detectors are set at distance from the base to notify the guards of people approaching.

1974 Skylab Photography

In January 2006, Dwayne A. Day published Astronauts and Area 51: the Skylab Incident in The Space Review. It was all based on the memo that was written to the CIA director William Colby in 1974. It was written by an unknown CIA official to the director which mentioned that the astronauts on the board Skylab had unintentionally photographed a certain location. It was prohibited and written in the specific instructions.

Day considered it as Groom Lake because no other place on Earth is as sensitive as Groom Lake. There was a memo debate between the federal agencies and the Department of Defense if the photograph should be classified. NASA and the State Department were arguing that it should not be classified.

2019 Shooting Incident

On January 28, 2019, an unidentified man whom you can call an intruder tried to enter the base. He drove through the security checkpoint near Mercury, Nevada. It was his apparent attempt to enter the base but after an 8 miles vehicle pursuit, the man came out of his car holding a cylindrical object. He was shot dead by NNSS security officers and Sheriff’s deputies because of disobeying the request to stop. There were no other injuries in the pursuit.
